The Sakhalin Times
The Sakhalin Times is the leading English-language newspaper in the Russian Far East. Published in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk since June 7, 2001, the weekly newspaper is the only English-language publication in the local media market, covering the main events in Sakhalin and the Russian Far East.
The publication is appreciated and respected by readers in large part because of its precise, reliable and independent information. Originally, the newspaper was created for expatriates living in Sakhalin, who were on the island in connection with the oil and gas projects. Now the paper is read by an increasing number of Russian readers and is distributed by the Russian Ministry of Education to schools and universities across the island.
The Sakhalin Times was initially distributed free of charge to over 80 prestigious locations in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk such as business centres, restaurants, bars, hotels, sports clubs, and medical centres. In large part due to overwhelming demand, the paper is now on sale in several outlets in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk
It is also delivered by subscription to individual and corporate clients, including Sakhalin II project operator, Sakhalin Energy and Sakhalin-1 project operator Exxon Neftegaz Limited.
