It’s finally fall, and that means a host of great new releases in TV, movies, books, music, and so much more. With so many options and so little time, it can be difficult to choose what to watch, read, or listen to, and which things you’re better off skipping. Here are our picks for great new entertainment to check out this season.
This Is Us: Everyone’s been buzzing about this show, and for good reason. The trailer alone garnered millions of views on YouTube for its heartfelt and emotional tone, and now the show is already drawing a great following. It follows several interconnected characters with the same birthday, and there’s tons of great twists along the way. Definitely give this one a watch.
Narcos: The second season of this hit Netflix drama just released, and the gripping story is definitely worth binge watching. It follows the life of Pablo Escobar in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s as he becomes a ruthless and powerful drug dealer – and violent crime lord. Although the series is character driven and has a slow burn, you won’t be able to look away, and the last episode will have you wanting more.
The Girl on the Train: This adaptation of the bestselling book has been highly anticipated for well over a year now, so we’re excited to see just how it turns out. It stars Emily Blunt as the main character, and just the trailer alone is intense, so you can bet the movie is going to be an amazing thrill ride. It releases on October 7th.
Bon Iver’s 22, A Million – It’s been a while since Bon Iver released new music, but this piece is well worth the wait. His unique vocal styling feature heavily on this record, just as they do on his first, but with a modern twist that uses innovative production techniques and takes influences from post-modern alternative and even hip-hop.
Lady Gaga’s Joanne – Regardless of how much you like Lady Gaga, this album will certainly be worth a listen purely to see just what she does next. She’s taken on a variety of interesting personas throughout her career, and this album promises to be something new and different, with a rock influence that’s a welcome change from her previous works of dance-pop.
A Gentleman in Moscow, by Amor Towles – Towles popped onto the literary scene a few years ago with his glittering debut, Rules of Civility. This story follows the life of a count in early 20th-century Russia, but promises to be no less intriguing.
Today Will Be Different, by Maria Semple – This novel follows a mother in Seattle over the course of one hectic, challenging day, and it promises to have the same quirky sense of dark humor that have made Semple’s previous works so successful.
These are just a few of the many great entertainment options available this fall.
